Notes from handover

The last week before a family receives the keys, hour by hour.

Every Ocutus project starts in the same place: a site visit at the end of the afternoon, when the light is low and honest. We sit, we watch where it falls, and we draw the first window before we draw a single wall.

What the light decides

Orientation, ceiling height, the depth of a reveal, the colour of the stone. Each choice is tested against a model of the sun across the seasons, so the rooms feel right in December as much as in June.

Small details, long lives

Materials are chosen to age well rather than to look new. Oak is oiled, not lacquered; brass is left unsealed; limestone is honed so it softens under bare feet. Ten years from now, the residence should feel more like itself, not less.
